Upcoming event: Afrobeats 4 all 14/10/2017, 7pm

On Saturday 14 October 2017, Yazmin Kadi, in conjunction with the international charity Street Child, will be headlining a special event of music and inspiration in support of the flood victims of Sierra Leone . Afrobeats 4 All will  include performances from Suga Lulu, Double A, Lady I, Diamond City and guest speakers Lord Alfred ‘Alfie’ Dubs (House of Lords) and Siana Bangura (published writer and poet of Sierra Leonean descent). Upcoming event: Beam Talks 4/10/2017


Are you a Sierra Leonean/African woman looking to get inspiration from your sisters? If so, you need to be at Beam Talks on 4 October 2017. Smiling Through Light’s new initiative will showcase the diverse career routes taken by Sierra Leonean women living in the UK. The event will provide a space where role models can discuss their achievements, experiences and challenges with a new generation of change-makers. Speakers will include Memuna Forna, Publisher, and Founder, Insight Media and Communications; Grace Camara, legal Manager, Thomas Reuters Foundation; and Georgina Walker, Director and Property Consultant, Walker Property Group Ltd. The panel will be moderated by Naberay Bangura, TV Presenter and Host at the Wan Pot Show on SKY TV; and hosted by Mariama Kamara, Founder and Director of Smiling Through Light. Sierra Leone Flood Relief: Community Meeting 19/8/2017



In response to the recent flooding and mudslide disaster that occurred in Freetown, resulting in injury, displacement, loss of lives and properties, the Sierra Leone High Commission in the United Kingdom will be organising an emergency meeting of the Sierra Leone Community in the UK on Saturday 19 August 2017 at 3:00 pm, at the Walworth Methodist Church Hall, 54 Camberwell Road, Camberwell, London, SE5 0EW. This Meeting will provide an opportunity for Sierra Leoneans and friends of Sierra Leone to discuss a coordinated approach to the UK diaspora response in support of the disaster relief operations in Sierra Leone.
